The Adhar Scheme aimed at giving a special identity number to every citizen of the country would be given a kick start in the district from June 27, noted E-Administration Department Principal Secretary M N Vidyashankar.

The scheme has already been implemented in Mysore and Tumkur districts, and by July 15, 95 per cent of the residents in these two districts would get unique identity cards, and they will be the first districts in the country to implement the scheme.

Adhar Cards :Finger prints, biometric scan of eyes and photographs would be collected, and cards would be issued within 30 days. These cards are essential for all Indians.

E-Administration Department Executive Officer D S Ravindran spoke on the role of officials on effective implementation of the project. Additional DC Mutt Mallikarjun demonstrated the project. He became the first to get the card in the division. Regional Commissioner Rajneesh Goyal, Hyderabad Karnataka Development Board Secretary Shalini Rajneesh CEG Project Director T Prabhakar, Deputy Commissioner R Vishal, Sameer Shukla, Guruneet Tej, Anbukumar, ZP CEOs, SP’s and other government officials of Gulbarga division were present.
