Weather report Gulbarga

Heatwave continued to bear down upon people of Gulbarga, with Gulbarga recording 40 degrees Celsius, the highest day temperature in the State, as per recording made by the IMD on Thursday (29 March) in Gulbarga

Gulbarga and Bellary recorded the highest minimum temperature of 24 degrees Celsius. Bidar recorded a day temperature of 39 degrees Celsius, which is three degrees more than the average.

Raichur and Bellary recorded daytime temperature of 39 degrees Celsius, while it was 38 degrees Celsius in Koppal, Bijapur and Gadag.

Department sources said the oppressive weather conditions would continue for a few more days.

The mud pots are in demand now as the temperature has been rising in Gulbarga district. People have been thronging to purchase the mud pots to store drinking water. If water is stored in these pots, it remains cool even amidst the scorching sun.

The pot makers have also adopted new techniques and designs to prepare the pots in recent days. Varieties of makes could be seen this year too. They have set up stalls near the Appa Temple & super market road in Gulbarga.

The people call it poor man’s fridge and even in the modern era too the mud pot has its own demand in the district.
