Gulbarga Greenfield Airport at Gulbarga would be operational by July 2012

Minor Airports at Gulbarga and Shimoga would be operational by July 2012.

Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj said, Delivering his address to the joint session of the state Legislature, he said minor airports at Shimoga, Gulbarga, Bijapur and Hassan are being developed on public-private-partnership basis.

Work on the construction of Greenfield airports at Gulbarga and Shimoga, taken up simultaneously in April, is progressing satisfactorily and both the airports are likely to be operationalised as scheduled in mid-2012.

The construction of the runway of Gulbarga airport from zero to 1,900 metres was progressing, and so far earth work of Sub Grade Layer (SGL) has been completed and the first layer of Granular Sub Base (GSB) has been completed at the end of the Runway End and Safety Area (RESA). Apart from this, the first layer of the GSB has been laid up to 475 metres.

The first phase of the airport which is being constructed at a cost of 185 crore include runway to the length of 1.91km and width 45mt.It also include apron, isolation bay, terminal building, air traffic control tower, radar room, roads, car parking, etc.

i am very happy for the opening airport at gulbarga.
thanks for the all , who is planned going to be success.
we have lot of problem with travells.
we can reach bangalore to gulbarga in morning but ther is no travels to reach early morning in bangalore.
so i am requesting you to fro all the gulbargs peoples pls complete this work
within 15th august.
this coming 15th august need to be a happy moment of all the gulbarga peoples.

Last thirty years Gulbarga people are worst suferer not having the air port.Gulf employed persons either to go Hyderabad or from Bombay alot
Time waisted.Even if Gularga air port start as local and International
Lot paseengers availble in both sector.AlSO alot of nre passengers are

Lets hope that the airport becomes functional before the 116kms Bidar-Gulbarga Rail line(work started in 1996). Along with airport, Gulbarga badly needs the follow trains( using existing rail lines):*1.A Gulbarga-Bangalore Express. *2.Gulbarga-Solapur-Bijapur-Hubli Express ( Solapur-Hubli Express is already running, can be extented upto Gulbarga). *3.Gulbarga-Guntakal-Bellary Train( Solapur-Gulbarga-Raichur-Guntakal passenger is already running). *4. Any new train between Bangalore-New Delhi may be introduced via-Gulbarga-Solapur-Daund route, instead of Secunderabad route .5. Two Gulbarga-Hyderabad express ( one in the morning time & one during evenings).

Last year i read the news that gulbarga airport will starts its operation from May 2011, and the first flight is going to be land with the then CM Yeddurappa. But you all have seen the result… This time we hope for the best…
