‘Mannettina Amavasya’ (ಮಣ್ಣೆತ್ತಿನ ಅಮವಾಸ್ಯ)
Soil and cattle are the sole mates of farmers. They consider bullocks not only as their companions but also as a grace of the divine spirit.
The farmers who propitiate soil also perform special poojas for bullocks considering it as Basava. One of the such special occasion for farmers is ‘Mannettina Amavasya’. It is an annual affair during which the farming community offer prayers and special poojas to the idol of bullocks. They see divinity in the bullocks and celebrate the ‘Mannettina Amavasya’ as a festival.
