About ESIC medical hub:

The Institute to be constructed by the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) will cater to the needs of the three states Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.

“The proposed Institute will provide medical education and super speciality health care facility
to ESI beneficiaries of North Karnataka,Marathwada of Maharashtra and Telangana regions of Andhra Pradesh,’’ Mr Kharge said.

Mr Kharge said that the Institute willbein addition to the ESIC Medical Education Complex which is being constructed on a 30 acres of land of Gulbarga University on Sedam Road at a cost of ` 790 crore. The foundation for the Complex was laid by Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherji in May 2010 and the construction work was going very fast the minister claimed.

“The ESIC medical hub is going to be the first of its kind in the country as far as facilities in different disciplines are concerned,’’

The Institute by engaging around 150 faculties will provide training to around 3,000 students/trainees every year generating huge job opportunities. At present about 20,000 nursing orderlies are working in different hospitals and medical health institutes of ESIC at different centres across the country. It will be developed in three phases and targeted to be completed in 24 months.
